SRC Member blacknails Posted December 9, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted December 9, 2003 Hey guys... Remember those beautiful flame scallops? I read some time ago that they were impossible to maintain in the aquarium bacause of their unique needs... So I was just wondering whether any of you guys have any luck with them and whether they are truly possible to maintain in the home aquarium? FuEl
Normally they will live for few months..during this time they absorb their own tissues for energy. Supposedly they need more than just lots of phyto...they will need a source of zooplankton too. I have two..kept for about 3-4 months already..still too early to tell if they are possible to keep. SRC Member spicyball Posted December 12, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted December 12, 2003 Hi fuel, i read from somewhere before that these scallops tends to hide often. Does that happens to yours too?
FuEl
They tend to prefer places with moderate flow and very very low light levels. They will always end up in the shade. You could epoxy them to rock if you want..but I think alot of ppl will scream at u. SpidermanX
I was very angry with my flame scallop too. It keep moving about and now it has settled at the back of the tank among the rocks. I cannot even see it unless i have a mirror with me. I shouldn't have bought it.
