How often/how long does your chiller kick in?

comparing 2 chillers of the same brand but diff hp, let say, 1/4 vs 1/2,

which will be more efficient and cost effective in the long run? lifespan & electricity consumption?

Not too sure about lifespan. Chillers like Artica and Teco are known to be more reliable, if serviced regularly. In terms of electricity consumption, you will have to work out the math to see which chiller is more efficient and cost effective for you. hey guys, do share how long ur chiller does ur chiller rest after chilling down. pls list down ur tank size, heat load n if skimmer n pumps were placed outsump. i heard of chiller resting for 6 hrs and i cant understand how that can be done. last night i tried out my system with only my return pump n wave maker running, the rest all switched off. in 1 hour, the temp raise by 0.2. with my full load, the temp raise back 1 degree in 2 hrs......does placing ur skimmers and pumps realli help alot in reducing heat load in tank?

Hmm i think it is better to list down other factor like is it in air-con operated room, how high u stay and maybe do u open the door or close all the time? All this factor i feel is pretty important, cause for my house it is not windy due to low lvl, main door is close to prevent my dog from barking at my neighbour. So it is quite warm and so the temp will rise up pretty fast. If one tank is in a aircon operated room and set the temp at 29 degree then i think 6hrs is highly possible.

hi bro if u link up ur compressor power on switch to the contoller it ok which work like just anyone else is doing.

I think nothing to do with long or short kick in. Instead it is the frequency of the kick in and kick out. If kick in too often, not good for chiller. that's my perspective.

My chiller on a 40 gallon takes 33 minutes to cool from 28deg to 26deg and stay for 3hours before it starts again. Therefore, in total, around 4x/day the chiller runs.
