Totally confused over lighting

Now i got PL lights and i know that i would have to change the tubes every 6mths or a year. then today i noticed that one PL tube would cost me $85. I have 2 PL fixtures which would cost me $170 to replace the tubes. If so, i might as well upgrade to MH for $200 and replace the bulb every year for abt $100+. My tank is only 12 inches high and its not convincing to change to MH. can anyone give some advice? :thanks:

my tank temp is not a problem as i have a diy chiller.

the coralife 55watt 50/50 PL is $85

my tank water depth is also 12" and I using 150W BLV 10K. The bulb is abt 6" off the water surface.

Cooling using AC fan. Temp around 27-28degC. But need to constantly top up water.

This is my experience. Before that I also have many pple telling me that with my tank it will overheat.

Now I can see my calms growth growth growth :P

Yes, it is possible to cool a MH using fan, depending where is your tank.

In near window or balcony, efficiency of fan increases compared to tank in a 'enclosed' room. Also, using Metal blade fan is stronger than Plastic Blade fan.

hanging MH slightly higher also helps. :)

Erm, whats so advanced and improper about MH?

I also newbie but i use MH for my 2ft. :unsure::unsure:
