heh coz D60 has no internal focusing motor, I will need an AFS lens. I agree nothing beats the AFD, but due to my limited choices, the Sigma is a solid performer in this range :)

Price wise is it cheaper than the 50mm AFS? Sorry to turn your thread into a photo discussion, but I don't keep up with photography news one, it seems that this lens appeared out of the blue and suddenly everyone is singing its praise haha.

lol sigma 50mm f1.4 was out in the market way before the nikon afs one. It was the only choice in the mkt for ppl like me, and had v. good reviews other than front focusing problems, which their sg office will callibrate for free.

Quality wise, it is comparable with Nikon AFS, some prefer Sigma, others prefer Nikon. Price wise, I think Sigma might be more expensive by a bit. Build wise, Sigma is like a MG barrel compared to Nikon, but the build doesn't really bother me, I actually prefer a solid feel.

heh I don't mind discussing lens here... no worries!

hmmm i was thinking tammy 90 more for corals close up actually, but if it has really slow focusing, then it's quite useless for fishes rite? what lens do you use for your fishes? like the one on your royal gamma? I don't think i will have budget for Nikon lens, any other recommendations?

tammy SP90 not fast enough to snap fish pic..... only suitable to take corals macro pics but need tripod... normally i will put my camera on tripod & use remote to snap... by doing that camera will not shake...

for fish, I will use 50mm f1.8 or my 18-105mm.... set between f3 to f4 & use faster shutter speed.... adjust the ISO higher bcoz we using faster shutter speed... on camera focusing set on AF-C as the fish moving fast.....

{Light:- 2 X 54W T5 ATI - Aquablue Spezial & 1 Pro Color, 1 X 54W T5 Giesemann - Aquablue + & 1 Actinic +, 1 X 54W T5 UV H2ology}

{Chiller:- 1 HP split unit powered by Rio 14}

{Skimmer:- Reef Maniac Beckett Skimmer Powered by Rio20}

{Fluidized Reactor:- Reef Maniac FR with Rowaphos media}

{Return Pump:- 1 unit X 5,400 L/H}

{Circulation Pump:- SEIO M1100 + M820}

sorry to disappoint you Jacky, you gotta wait afew more days... my tripod isn't with me and my hands abit shakey,can't take a fts tonight... Will try to do it over the weekend yeah?

Anyway, here's a nice pic of my true octo under my blue lights... Another reason why I'm considering LEDs is their nice blue fluorescent effect. This is like tame compared to corals under Royal blue LEDs. Can anyone idea the brown stuff growing just under it?

ps, I meant any of the fast prime lens. tt's why I'm asking if it's possible for entry level dslr like mine... aye

hmmm maybe will play ard with my 55-200 tonight... see if there's any difference. Also borrowed a canon 50mm f1.8 from my colleague, will test it out with my gf's old camera. :)

55 -200 mm give you a lot of freeplay. Should be easy to take a decent foto of your reef then a 50 mm.

I will be trying out my 70 - 400 mm this few days.

I just want to check if it is easier to usethen my 180 macro

50 F1.8 .That is a fanastic lens. Keep it at all cost

ok memorial service over...

To all my Cirrhilabrus lover friends:

"They are diurnally active and sleep at night pinned within rockwork, protected by a mucus cocoon which they secrete around themselves. A similar cocoon in Parrotfish was demonstrated to protect the sleeping fish by masking its scent from the sensitive olfactory nerves of nocturnal predators. It is presumed that the cocoon performs the same function for Cirrhilabrus."

cool stuff!

I have a new King in the tank! need to cross fingers for the next couple of weeks though... then he should be out of danger zone.

My newest addition... hopefully all goes well with this male, and his colouration deepens. Not the best specimen out there, but it is the most aggressive fish in the tank now. Hopefully that encourages him to turn alpha :)

this is a rhomboid fairy wrasse.

Cirrhilabrus Rhomboidalis. One of the holy grails of wrasses. comparing it to a six line, it's :eyebrow: hehe
