Usually, a solitary anthias is easy to keep, except for the sunburst/fathead anthias. The problem with them is that they spend so much time fighting and not enough time feeding, so keeping them alone will decrease their energy expenditure. The downside is that they won't look as pretty.

50 anthias will make a shoal. Installing a 12' tank anytime soon?

50!!!!!!!!! Gosh.... is it advisable to put 5 anthias (1 male, 4 female) in a 4 ft tank... oh... one qn... you using 4 tunze in a 4 ft tank...

Anthias species such as tri- color, truncate fairy, squaminpinnis and even squarespot are rather easy to keep. They can start feeding easily and will accept brine/ mysis shrimp, pellet food and many other stuff. The down side part abt these anthias mentioned above is that thye constantly get into fight and the fight usually are very brutal especially when new hobbiest get a few males of the same species( As males are usually more coloful than females) at the same time.

Thinking that schooling anthias is a must is another big mistake made by new reefers. But in fact many anthias can do well alone in the tank. It is possible to school these anthias but it should consist of 1 males and many females let say 8 of them therefore a very big tank is needed and so not recommended.

So to the next part, anthias that are not so easy to keep are for example sunburst, dispar, purple queen or even evansi. Usually it is due to feeding problem. These anthias sometime are so picky that they refuse any food given and rather go on hunger strike thus later leading to their death.Therefore it is very important to purchase feeding specimen when comes to the anthias psecies i mention above.

Next if you really want to have a small school of anthias i recommend you to get either barletts or dispar as this 2 species of fish are not that aggressive but even so 1 male with many female is still recommended.

Lastly, pls read up more on anthias before commiting into them, yes some species maybe hardy but they are definately not suitable for new reefers.

Yes. The strong water current makes it very easy to feed my anthias. Dead mysis and brine shrimp looks alive when they are zooming about in the water. My anthias will never take dried food and will spit it out.
