My tank has been running since march no problems so far.But suddenly my liverocks are turning white. Can anybody tell me why does that happen and what i must do.THANKS

What livestock? Fish coral?

If coral, they could be bleaching and possibly dying. If fish, they could be malnourished.

Hmm... what about lighting period. did you shorten the period the lights are on? If your water parameters are okay, light never change, then the rocks shouldn't bleach. How old is the tank by the way? Was coraline algae growing even before they turn white?

I do know that water movement plays a great role in the growth of coraline algae, so I occasionally move my rocks around to let the purple coraline grow evenly haha.

Oh sorry, I misread liverock as livestock.

Liverock turning white. Some possible causes:

If the liverock is newly added and is uncured, it could be curing.

Coralline algae need calcium and iodine. Ensure these are in sufficient quantities in your tank.

Too much or too little lighting, in nature, reefs get more or less 12 hours of light a day. Tune your lighting to mimic nature.

Changes to your water chemistry can affect all life inside. Take note of changes you've done recently and especially prior to the incident.

Lastly, some reefers have reported satisfactory results with products such as purple up. you can search the forum for more info.
