White slime is indicative of brookynella. You will need a medication that contains formalin as an ingredient. Those are not reef safe. You will have to catch out the fish for 3 separate dips every 2-3 days until it is cured.

So medication is not safe to dose into main tank? Mine is a FOWLR with no corals except for coco worms. All are fishes.

Means all the micro-organisms living in and on the live rock. Denitrifying bacteria will also die off.

Roger that.

I placed activated carbon in my filter to get rid immediately after seeing that post.

Did anyone try this products "Herbtana" from Microbe-lift before to combat the white spot ?? Seem to be reef safe as it mention it is a bacterial base products ?

The website link is here ; http://www.microbelift.com/

hi Larry, it sounds convicing. they have a board range of medication that im interested in. but sadly, i never seen them on our shore before. and some of their medication content can considered controlled in singapore which are the more effective medication for our fish. how ironic.

hey larry,if u are concern about the ich in your tank. i think u need not worry. your tank is quite new and the ick doesnt seems to be so strong to kill your fishes yet.

give them another 2months or so. everything will be alright :)

I would stick to the trusted UV sterilizers. At least in theory they would be more effective. Don't get the small ones.

i am too looking for a UV sterilizer...

seems like the coral life brand is recommended?

how about other brands? jebo etc?

so far only aquamarin carries coral life UV?

A UV unit is only good if it can handle the flowrate of your pump. If you buy a small unit and run a large volume of water through it, even brine shrimp passing through the UV will come out alive.

For small flowrates below 1200l/hr most UVs seem to be effective. Above that, very hard to find a good one. Even the large pond UVs are not that effective as they are designed more as clarifiers than sterilizers. Good UV units will state the uv irradiation level at respective flowrates passing through the unit. UV irradiation needs to be of a certain intensity to kill different organisms. For example, low irradiation levels will kill algae but not protozoans.
