Sorry bro any recommendation? m very new this what my uncle recommended me and he said is good enough. And what a air stone skimmer?

Did you run a air pump for your skimmer?

If you did, it's an air stone skimmer

If you didn't, it's a venturi skimmer.

SANDERS is the brand of your current skimmer. It's a very old school kind of skimmer which for your case from what I see, it is a venturi skimmer. I have personally seen a giant model of yours in action. So it's still a good skimmer imo and also for now when you are only keeping soft corals. Anything more than that, I think you should upgrade at least to a Reef Octopus NW skimmer if not, a Deltec or HNS if you have the money (:

Cheers. Happy Reefing (:

he help me ans ur qns already...

in general a good skimmer can b use for a very long time..(unless u run dry n ur pump spoil... =( )

i would say the least u use a pump driven skimmer,it only take up 1 power socket space for e pump

higher end skimmers gives u better skim mate, but nt all pple like to skim everything out of their tank

as for e specs for tank size u got to ask other bros or mayb u can look up a few skimmer website

consider bubblemaster, H&S if u alot of budget lolx..

reef octopus r e more average models

Thanks bro. Think so but just putting to test my new tank and later can remove ma just need time to catch them :pinch:

its not time needed to catch them , its the effort , be prepare to tear down your rocks just to catch the damsels,

in my opinion better to do it soon , before you are so stock up things will get very hard to do

And if you are considering Reef Octopus, there's a brother selling his OCTX-160 for $350. Do a search and try to find him. Imo, that's really a worth for money toy unless you want to get a 2nd hand HNS which some bros also selling theirs at $200+/-. Both skimmers are reputable, maybe not that much for Reef Octopus but you can check out the quality of the skimmer (Reef Octo) in Reef Central (www.reefcentral.com) which a lot of angmohs are using with great results. Likewise, you can drop by my place, I show you my DNW200 and let you have a picture in your head about the kind of skimmer you want and the brand you want (:

Like bro amby has said, some people likes to overskim some people do not like to do so. So choose wisely. Anything don't know, just ask the bros here. Many are more than willing to help

Cheers,

Happy Reefing (:

I like the open top concept. And yes, you have stocked up too quickly. Hope everything goes well. And good luck trying to catch the damsels.

I think there is a reason why they give such simple skimmer as the system relies more on biological filtration.

But obviously the whole system is not meant for heavy stocking of fishes.

I guess so, anyway was told this simple skimmer has been proven for years.

Just added some fishes.

Too much LS too soon. I hope you don't get dies offs. easy, bro. Go too fast your tank fills up too quickly and soon no more space for gems.

Nice! hope everything is under control this time round :)

Just a thought, if you are intending to keep many fishes might want to consider changing to a more powerful skimmer. Plenty of good used skimmers can be found cheap in pasar malam of at LFS. Just a small investment to keep your water cleaner.
