i started keeping fish recently, all i have done is buying a 20 gallons tank, saltwater coral and reef, and i 've also purchased a metal halide HQI Light from www.thelashop.com the last step is to install a wave revitalize the tank. the question is, do this kind of wave makers work in any aquarium tank?

http://www.yescomusa.com/product.php?produ...t=61&page=1

Could somebody give me an answer? Many thanks!

I personally find that that wavemaker is too strong for a 20 gallon tank. Well i am a newbie so let the senior say more about it...

I think 3200 gallons per hour is WAY overkill for a 20 gallon (160x turnover!!!) prob create a tsunami in your tank :P

I'm newbie too, but i think typically depending on the type of corals you intend to keep, you will prob wanna turn over your tank volume anywhere between 10-20x. Most SPS reefers here might even push it to 30-40x (i think)

Also have to take into account your scaping. I would prob get a nano wavemaker first, and add another one if I decide I need more flow. Or buy one of those Tunze nano wavebox or Vortech MP20 if budget allows. Do check out the MP10, it just started shipping last week and should be hitting LFS within the next couple of months.

thanks for your suggestion! :)

the coral i am intending to keep is yellow tip torch coral.

considering your advice, i think a 800 gph wave maker may fit, right? just like this one?

http://www.thelashop.com/catalog/Wave-Make...-gal-p-671.html

torch corals require very low to med slow flow , you will notice if the flow is too high you will blow the tentacles out of it.

whats the dimension of your 20gal tank?

800gph is too much for ur 20g tank. for ur tank size, can try the hydor nano wavemaker or 1000+LPH wavemaker....

I agree with [V]tEc. Either a hydror nano wavemaker, a hydro korella 1 or 2 at max. You can also try the seio prop 320 or 520. Flow rate for your awuarium should be around 2000l/h at max. If you want to toy around at little more, why not get 2 hydro nanos if your budget can afford it? 2 smaller wavemakers give you much more flexibility than just 1 large wavemaker. Get a decent wavemaker, not some cheap china brand. It will serve you will in time to come.

take china products rebrand it and call it their own

well, i've heard about that.

But one of my friends recommends this website, she bought some little staffs from it and likes them very much, i guess it may be kind of reputable online shop, and the price seems not bad.

well if its a sunsun its just sold for 20+sgd for similar specs in sg , i've had very very very bad experience with a few famous online stores from states like AMA**N.com and HORSEP*WERFREAKS.com , when it comes to refund and faulty items they either ignore you or gives you tons of crap, so in my opinion unless the item you are looking for cannot be found , no similar products , too high mark up , and you're prepared to throw the money away if the product is faulty on arrival then order , if you want a good reliable product , you can always get a controllable tunze nano stream or a vortech mp20w , but of course its more expensive (300-500) but fun to play and good service support if the wavemaker was to break down

ok i just save you some money , any treat from you?

# Extremely low energy consuming - requires 6 watt power

# Power: 110V / 60Hz

that wavemaker cant be used locally unless you use a step down transformer to change the voltage
