Reviving Bali Montipora

Recommended Posts

  • SRC Member

Hi Reefers,

I got a bali montipora that looks like this that has turned brown when i got it from the LFS.

Hope to revive back to its former glory which is green in colour.

Any suggestions? ( i'm using T5 btw and it is already brown when i got it...trying to experiment if i can get it back to green)

Good water circulation.

Good water parameters.

Place it nearer to ur lights.

U may get back green or it may change other colors.

Bro,

I think you may want to gradually put it to the top. It might bleach.

Rgds.

When i got it from GO, it was placed tog with the rest of the SPS under MH...so should be ok...i will c how it goes...i wonder how long it will take to recover?

Dun tell me 3-6 months...haha...if that's the case, i will give it away. You want it brother?...its palm size.

In fact, 3 months is a good guide. But I had seen some of my "brownie" SPS recover after about 2 months.

The length of recovery very much depend on how long the "browning" of the SPS was.

And new owner's tank condition, the better the water quality and lighting, the better chance it will recover the colours. :)

Personally, I found such an excercise a personal archievement. ;)

Anyone wants to adopt this bali montipora. It is growing fast, but i doubt with my T5 at 8hrs per day can restore its colours...my LPS will suffer if i switch on my lights for more than 10 hrs.

The actual picture below.

It is FOC. But someone who is into SPS pls. Location is at Queenstown, near to the MRT.

Suppose to be green colour. Its left over shipment from GO in June. It's growing as i can see various pertrusions coming out, but reviving the colour quite difficult.

Think under MH will have better chance.
