Hey man... Your FW tanks are beautiful!!

Quick question.. do you use co2 for your planted?

I'm sure your marine tank would be nice nice too!!

yup i use DIY co2

Crab:

Most ikea furnitures are made from compressed wood. They're soft & will swell when contact with water.

Take care.

Hi SBS,

firstly, let me commend you on those really cool FW setups. They do look very nice indeed ;)

OK I am not you, so my views might be a bit different. And its just advice, you really dont have to take it.

With such a small setup, you can get by without a protein skimmer. Just do frequent water changes, which will be pretty convenient to do. Besides, You throw in the weipro, the pump will take up space in your very small tank.

I agree to upsize the hang on filter, logic is with increased flow, you can skip the internal PH, thereby keeping your heat level down.

You might want to consider a tubby, as if you run the fan, salinity might be an issue due to the evaporation.

Also, with the height so low, you cant go DSB without affecting the aesthetics. You might want to go barebottom, or a very thin layer of sand.

Dont stock up with so many fish. If you want simple and hassle free, keep as little bioload as possible. One small fish or two , some softies, LR. Will look cool.

A small tank can look very cluttered with equipment if you are not careful. Iprefer a simple look myself, so it just my view. And watch out for the heat :)

Best of luck! :)

Erm..somehow that tank sitting on the cabinet looks more than 10 gallons. At least 20 gallons I think....

If you wanna keep so many livestock..best you get a sump that is about the same size as your tank.

Always something more important than fish.

I agreed with Riot. Mine is also a small set up. I didn't have deep sand bed and to compensate for it, I put more live rocks to do the biological filtration. It works and when feeding your corals, try to feed them with DTs plankton. They are live food and won't pollute your water. I did water changes once every 1 1/2 or 2 weeks. My maintenance is simple and I encountered no problem so far. My set up has been up and running for 5 months already.

My only problem is detritus. Turbo snails and not great a cleaning crew to do the job as they tend to stick to one small area of the tank. So far all of them met an early death, perhaps can't stand detritus or I simply don't know what they want for food. But I got no problem with those smaller snails that come with the live rocks.

Anyone here knows how to get an effective cleaning crew? I preferred snails (not Turbo snails) and where to get them?

IMO, than very dangerous to use those "Ikea" cabinet to support the tank.... , tank + water + LR =......, ( Tons )

" Not try to threaten U " after few months U will know the problem...... :(:(:(

:(:(It's better to be SAFTER than " Say Sorry "... : :(:(

i think the wood is strong, it is made from pine.

the water is around 36kg, the LR and samd arount 10kg, plus all the other things around 5kg, i measured everything ;)

If it is made from pine and you have made the neccessary water proofing than it shouldnt be an issue. Anyone, if the cupboard warps, then should be easy to remove the tank anyways. Put a thicker layer of foam under the tank.

In reply to Marino's advice, maybe you could stack the LR in such a way that detritus is not colleted- good circulation 360 degrees. I think Danano arranges his in such a way that no LR touches the glass- so you get unrestricted flow.

Water change can be made eay if you have a large bucket. Brew your salt in the bucket- a simple PH to stir, then once you have siphoned out the old water, hook up a pump and pump the new water in. Easy as 123.

4 clowns look a lot to me. I dont know, 10g is way small. If you stick to 1 or 2 small clowns, then your maintenance will be much easier. Less water change, etc. Even better, no fish- just a LARGE boxer shrimp or a few cleaners. heh heh the bioload will be very very very low so you can concentrate on your corals.

m¥ 2 cents.

Yes , U think the wood is "STRONG" ???? But "IKEA" furniture normally have to assemble yourself with just using some screws And the all corner for the cabinet should have more support ??? :o:o
