That's a very cute lyretail hawk, I just gave mine away recently. The bubble eye is known commonly as "pop eye", relatively harmless and not contagious if it is caused by trauma (this little bugger is damn kan chiong, will dart about when nervous or excited, maybe it scrapped its eyes against the rocks).

Popeye, also known as exophthalmos or exophthalmia, is more a condition than it is a disease. In saltwater fish it may affect one or both eyes, appearing as if the eye has air or fluid trapped inside, around or behind it, causing the eye to enlarge and bulge out of its socket, as if under pressure. Duration of this condition can be anywhere from several days to several weeks.

A variety of physical injuries or non-infectious and infectious diseases can lead to this clinical condition. Typically, popeye in itself is not contagious to other fishes in the community.

Your regal's pop eye could have been caused by disease or parasites and was probably only a symptom of something larger. I used to have a brown tang that popped its eyes out of the socket right in front of me, damn gross. I thought that was what killed it, but found out that there was an ich outbreak that affected the rest of the livestock too :P

Thanks binosage, but ever since i got this chap it has not been in the tank yet so i guess its injury was caused by the holding container.
