Oily Surface on water

Hi all,

Yesterday i bought SW fr iwarna farm.

Added in LR fr a fellow reefer.

This morning, i noticed oily surface on the water. Why so?

And what shld i do?

whats the flow of your tank design, as how does it flows from the main tank to the canister/sump?

just to share, for my sump tank,i added fish, after that, the sump got oily surface, i added a hang on filter and that solves the issue.

u have a surface skimmer?

Reefing since 2003
 4ft x 2ft x 2ft Mixed Reef (BB):-
50 Gal Sump,

Apex Controlled System (Lab grade),
Deltec SC1455 Protein Skimmer,
Vortech MP40wQD,

Jebao RW-15

Maxspect Razor 320w
Eheim 1260 Return Pump,
Hailea HS-66A 1/4HP chiller,
TLF Reactor 150, running HydroCarbon

oHH.. i just started the tank only. thus no fishes nth.

I think i will need a surface skimmer :)

if you would like double filter, can try eheim hang on filter, it can filter out the water and "surface" skim haha

Nice.. would head down to c328 to look see ltr.
