cynofilm problems

hi bros and sis

I recently encountered cynofilm problems which is like a layer of oil on the surface of my water

as I do not have a sump tank I dose red slime remover to treat it but it come back very soon

there is also bubble like brown bubbles floating at the side of my tank(form kind)

can anyone help me out.

When is the last time u clean yr cannister and change yr filter media? or change yr water? dude...

Did u check yr nitrate levels?

just change 30 percent of water hopefully it will be fine

will try to change media asap

did not check for nitrate as test kits not with me think algae problem come for overfeeding

Don't worry, bro. Just buy a surface skimmer. I bought mine at $15 only for branded.

Try to change yr media once every month ideally or within 2-3 months...

For me, i change my filter wool every week, if not every 2 weeks.

And my phosguard to absorb phosphate, i will take out every month to wash and dry under the sun before reusing.

All these will leak phosphate and nutrients back into the water, if not regularly maintained.

I have also recently threw away my coral chips...coz it accumulates a lot of dirt and "mud" underneath...

Surface skimmer is impt also, esp for sumpless reefers like us...coz the nutrients tend to accumulate at the surface of the water.

it might not be cyanobacteria. Be careful with dosing the redslime as it kills bacteria that will cause a nitrate spike
