my small 10G tank

Hi everyone, this is my very first marine tank and I have just bought four clown fish for my tank after 2 weeks of cycling. Before i put the fish, i have tested the water wth salinity at 1.02 and ph 8 NO2 0 and NH3 0. However, 3 fish died with 2 of them disappear, which i suspect was eaten by the hairy crab on the first day. Before i put the fish in never did i know that the crab was there. now i test the water again, reading is PH close to 9, NH3 0 and NO2 is abt 0.5 to 1. I also think i was cheated by the aquarium store and bought a fresh water tank instead of marine tank. Therefore i stop using the original filter and oxygen and bought a small filter that does 4W 200L / hour filter for my small tank. Is this enough? Pls look at the photos of my setup and pls kindly give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

yup, just take the rock out and catch the crab. If he is hiding very well, then it is better u soak the rock in fresh water for 5 to 10 mins. Sometimes u will see the crab drop out dead too. He looks like a mean little thing.

Hi,

Anyone can comment on the tank filter? is it sufficient? also, is it true i should not turn on the original filter in the tank that also have oxygen supply? By the way its really hard to get the crab out!!!! finally i have seen the crab fully outside the live rock for the first time.

In such a small tanks as yours, no crabs is better. If you prefer not to harm the crab, you can donate it to reefers with sumps or refugiums. It's a good scavenger after all.

Let mine go at Labrador Park. Cute fellow, regretted letting mine go.

But probably NOT the one killing your clowns. If anything it's feasting on their dead bodies.

It's more likely that your tank isn't cycled fully yet.
