well it depends on how much stuff and food you put into the tank luh. same logic as how much you eat is how much you put out mah (: and for the 2nd gen mce300 which our bro vlamingi cont is using, it is easier to clean. if you have seen mine which is the 1st gen, you will confirm swear at it.

Similarly, bro markietan is also using the 1st gen skimmer (:

Cheers

Happy Reefing,

Marc J.

Other than its from deltec :eyebrow: The MCE 300 has a very unique way of collecting skimmate... Hence, its easier for you to view ur bubbles... :eyebrow: :eyebrow: :eyebrow: Also it consume only 9W whereas the 9005 Consumes 12W...

1ft cube with IOS [the low tech tank]

1. JBJ C-breeze to keep temp hovering around 27-28'C

2. LED clip on - 120 bulbs

-skimmer-less-

My 3 humble equipments that keeps my tank running... [DRIED OUT]

1. The RSM itself of course 2.My NEW Deltec MCE-300 Skimmer 3. My trusty Arctica Chiller

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

Others? too lazy to measure...LOL

I had used this skimmer for about 2 years. Good during 6 months, after that, the fixture starts to give problem, specifically the tube that links the pump to the inner cylinder. It is not a very well constructed skimmer I must say, cleaning is hell!!!

the noise level will start to show after months of usage. I will not recommend this skimmer for long term use. Adjustment to the flow requires artist skills but much better than skills required to manage a Red Sea prism pro.

I am using Aqua Medic skimmer now for about 2 months. Never use a skimmer this quiet before. will need time to tell how good this is. Skimming wise, I rate it 30% better over the Deltac, as it is more stable, no adjustment required.

I am using the I400, this model is the in tank version, very easy to clear, zero sound so far, no air flow adjustment required or bubble issue. all parts are easy to take out and wash.

Just an additional note, the deltec MCE-300 I used before and now in store room is 2nd gen version. Wait till some more months later than you can decide if it is easy to clean.....

Think this weekend not good, as I have to travel. Let me do some pic taking to help you see it working. Will post them this tomorrow night.

My views: try not to allow bubble to exist over long duration in a tank, bubble normally exist when you use overhanging or in tank skimmer or over size skimmer for slump. It not only promote brown algae growth but also it will affect SPS and fishes health, in serious cases, algae will start to grow on your corals and kill them overtime. If you use MH lights, having bubble means your tank will be having increase population of cocepod, which means tissue death of corals exist in your tank. And your skimmer will appear to work excellent but in fact it is battling with increase growth of algae in the water flow and you have to spend alot of time cleaning your skimmer and tank off algae. If you are using 10000k or 6500k MH light, it is time for you to switch to 14500k or 16000k bulb to reduce algae growth and improve on visual for coral color. Don't read too much on kevin stuff, a tank is not a sea, we don't need so much growth in a small tank!!!!

there is no bubble for my i400 skimmer... only if I add new sps and use bonding stuff, but the small bubble will be gone after 1 to 2 hours. should not allow any bubble.

I think what he meant is the bubbles in the reaction chamber...
