Very new to marine

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, recently i started to keep marine fishes, so thought of starting small and budget before going really going into it.

Manage to find a 1ft by 1ft by 1ft tank. Using a hang on filter, a intank skimmer, but a really small (about 15cm) PL light (blue and white bulb) with bare bottom. Any advice on this? No comment is too harsh for me. ^^

Live stock: 1 blue tank and another fish which i dunno what is it. It looks like angel fish and it's blue and yellow.

There's also a couple of live rocks with mushroom and another hard coral which I forgotten what is it called liao.

Anyway, got a few question to ask.

What's the diff with bare bottom / sand?

Where to get lights for 1ft tank?

you need to ensure your tank is matured. Clown seems sensitive to new tank problem.....

Mabye you can get a tomato clown. I had one and that's about the only thing except for a flavia coral and a button polyp had survived 2 of my mistakes. Hardier than normal clownfish, i must say. Get a small one - you don't want to overload the biological system in your tank, especially when you are going to keep hard corals.

GOt 1 harelquin and 2 other shrimps in my tank. But i heard goblies are sensitive to water condition. Think total live stock should have got 2 tiny crabs, 2 fish (blue tank & unknown), 3 shrimps (Harlequin & 2 unknown). Flower Pot Coral, mushroom and 1 unknown coral. Is it too crowded for a 1ft cub tank?

Do you know what Harlequin Shrimps feeds on? If not, they simply starve to death in no time. I think you should REALLY do more research BEFORE you buy any livestock. Most LS are still collected from our oceans and each one is precious. Aquarists should make their survival of utmost importance.

And in case you didn't know. In Marine aquariums, the smaller the tank, the more difficult it is to maintain.

I bought choc chip starfish for my harlequin to eat. My friend did told me that the smaller the tank the harder to maintain cuz it's sensitive to water condition. I am afraid to kill the marine life so tat why i join this forum, to find out more meanwhile do abit of research.
