SRC Member james72 Posted April 2, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2014 I flood my tank with 2 cubes of mysis once a day. Two times with pellets / tear up nori / henry's gourmet and Three times on pellets auto feeder. SRC Member solasido Posted April 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 11, 2014 bro James despite the heavy feeding, there does not se to be nuisance algae. care to share your nutrient export mechanism? thanks bro. I flood my tank with 2 cubes of mysis once a day. Two times with pellets / tear up nori / henry's gourmet and Three times on pellets auto feeder. Equate to about 6 times a day of feeding which is why my sps colours are not as brilliant but all the 30 fishes are happy Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
SRC Member james72 Posted April 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 11, 2014 Equation is simple, export must be stronger than import. I only use two main ways to export. 1) over skimming. My skimmer is rated for 1500 litres but my display tank is only 300L. 2) My refugium which consists of dsb & macroalgaes is 150L, which is 1/2 the size of my display tank. With these two main nutrients exporters, I can feed alot without much worries. Of cos plus I diligently do my weekly 20L water change with distilled water salt mixed. During water change i siphon some of the sand in the dt as well as my ios that has detritus settlement. My photoperiod is 14hrs with 8hrs full 100% T5. My rowaphos already 2 months no change and I didnt notice any ill effect so I might discontinue the use of rowaphos next month. Small Bag of the cheapest activated carbon I can find in the market are changed monthly. Thats all, no magic, just plain old school method.
