Media for sump tank

Hi to all bros,

I have been using canlister filter for more than 8yrs for my 2ft marine tank, will be upgrade to a

2.5ft x 2 x 2ft tank next month, there will be a sump tank at the bottom, what media will I need to

get to put it in? What pump must I buy? Don't wish to spend too much

The Best and most important media for your marine tank is of course your Live rocks..

to fast start my 2.5ft x 2 x 2 marine tank arrive. Service includes salt-mixing, put in

sand, arranging live rocks...

If there is enough good quality Live rocks inside your main tank, some of the reefer here like me did not even put any other media inside their sump tank..

However, some of the other good filter media you can also consider inside your sump includes Bio-home, and Bio rings ect..

How about putting in PUR II carbon in the sump during cycling process?

I saw some LFS put in coral chips in sump tank also, is it necessary to put cotton wool?

no media is the best you wont regret it

basic stuff that u should have in ur sump......1st chamber, filter wool & carbon.....2nd, skimmer....last return pump.

if u cant keep ur sump clean, adding more media will do more harm than gd

I give up on cotton wool as filter media. Now using those gauze bags instead. I use LR in my first compartment of my sump instead of coral chips or bio-balls/home/etc.

May i know what are the carbon for?

I read up, these are good for removing left over medication, colouring, smell etc?

And i bought phos remover media. Placed it in my filter. is it good to remove phos?
