OK, Boss not aroud, me me post... haha

As u had said dipping zoas in FW but how about those hidden in the live rock. Yellow Wrasses is good solution, but only working day time, including eating pallet, brium shrimps as well. But for those big tank, how are u going to remove the live rock if the nudi hidden in it. Very xiong le...

I had tried this method myself when i 1st start my 1st tank, it works. And infact i dose it weekly since ever after, but half the dosage of what had give by the instruction ( sometimes also forgot, no need so particular la). I also do the weekly 10-15% water change, so not scare of overdose, so far most coral are ok except LPS seem don't like this method but still open alright.

NOTE: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THINGS OR LIVE STOCKS DEATH IF U OR ANYONE THAT TRIED THIS METHOD.

Here is the method

Get yourself a Salifert Flatworm Exit. U will be dosing directly into your main tank TWICE SEPERATELY.

(YES, flatworm Exit kill zoas eating Nudi. If u worried, U can try take out one infected colony first, place them in the bowl with some sea water from your tank, then dose it according follow the instruction, confirm you will see the result)

STEP 1- FIRST DOSE

If you or anyone decided to dose directly to Main Tank, please dose according to instruction give by the Salifert Flatworm Exit. After u done the 1st DOSE to main tank, wait until 5 to 6 days (Note: First dosing is to KILL THE ADULT NUDI ONLY, NOT THE EGGS)

Step 2- Second Dose

After 1st dose, the adult should be death and no more new eggs layed. And u had waited 5 to 6 days for those eggs to hatch layed by the adult nudi b4 u do the first dose (Usually the nudi eggs will hatch between 3 to 5 day, i think). So DOSE for the 2nd time, by doing so u shd be able to maximise the kill and keep them under control.

Who know u might be able to NUKE those basxxxx UP UP AND AWAY.

NOTE: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THINGS OR LIVE STOCKS DEATH IF U OR ANYONE THAT TRIED THIS METHOD.

interesting time this thread came up cause yesterday while checking my frag tank at night after neglecting it for some time, i found nudis crawling round some of my most beloved zoas! those bastards

anyway i sucked out a total of 15. each time, i switch off the light, leave it alone for 10 minutes, then on the blue light only. the nudis are really pretty actually, and they look like eagle eye zoa coloration on the back, so they camo quite nicely. siphoned out all that i could spot and repeated that 3 to 4 times.

but i'm quite sure there are eggs somewhere so i'm gonna do a fw lugol dip tonight for all frags, transfer to another temp tank which i will setup w/ mature tank water from another tank and maybe get the flatworm exit potion to kill any baby nudis. told my friends to help me buy a yellow wrasse too...

just when my broypsis is getting controlled, this has to happen! and i think some zoas were also starting to develop pox. zoa pox dun spread right?

Yeah zoa pox won't spread bro, and all the best with the yellow wrasse. Anything you need just let me know, since I am always on the road (:

peacemaker: paiseh, there are still 2 yellow wrasses left at Ah Beng. I bought one earlier today. Hope you can get one for your tank soon (:

All the best! (:

Hmmm... looks like its worth a try. What's the recommended dosage for a 18" x 18" x 12" IOS nano?

Bro, mind describing your broypsis problem and how you resolved it? I suspect I face the same problem too.

hi bro,

it looks like a fern like hairy algae that grows really fast on sand, rock and even the glass. it grew all over my frag plugs and i have to manually weed them out as they affect the frags growing on the plug. i can't get a good shot but you should be able to get a photo of it easily online.

i've tried weeding them, then using tweezers to scrap off any more bits then using a tooth brush to brush the no-polyp region vigorously but it still grew back after awhile. now i'm trying to keep my mg level high and that was suppose to kill them. it did work once and i changed my water and it grew back... now the tank is high in nutrient because i took off the skimmer and i think they are growing really well. especially when there is sand, they grow really fast by spreading through sand. i'm gonna move to another qt tank w/o any sand bed after dipping the frags in fresh water / lugol. then monitor from there...

also that 1 time when it worked, i was also dosing vit c at a high dosage and i think it caused a bacteria bloom making the water chalky/cloudy, which is what prompted me to do a huge water change and stop dosing anything for awhile and then those translucent broypsis grew back.

these things are wicked... i hope you don't have them in your tank.

also i hope u get rid of the nudis too.... i've been staying up late to check on the tank every 15 mins to see if any fat neon nudis come out to feed... so far no more sightings. fingers crossed.... going to do dip and transfer now...

did u try algae scrubber try reducing the phosphate problem 1st?

they normally branch out from one trunk to bcum a bush..

with the tweezers u must aim for the main branch else they just keep falling all over e place..

Mark,

You can try to get tangs..My yellow tang will finish up all.. :eyebrow::eyebrow: Proven to remove all broypsis. The last frag that you passed to me that has broypsis, they were all gone in 3 days time.

nope. no space for algae scrubber and i only feed minimally for that tank to the 4 baby clowns in there. feeding spectrum grow pellets

i normally remove the whole piece of rock or plug to another container and pluck them all out and scrub it hard before i place them back into the tank and they still grow back somehow. mine also seem to have many 'branches' ?

Sippon them out. Well, wish you luck if no egg layed on the frag that u take out to another tank. Zoa pox hmm... seem like nudi is culprit that cause that problem, but not 100% sure. I jus base on my self experience.

If you happen to go to GO, u will c some of their zoas are "shrinking" due to nudis. These creatures are just too hard to get rid man...

Altho' many times i was tempted to buy them, but i keep telling myself they are just too tedious for me...i can't be dipping them every now and then in freshwater n taking them in and out of the tank...so distruptive to my rest of my corals...not fair to them u know wat i mean...hahaha..anyway this is just my personal experience.

Well, u had to follow the instruction dosage on the Flatworm Exit u bought.

Bro, I experimented on a zoa frag with nudis (yes, they were visibly, happily feeding on my beloved zoas :pirate: ), took it out with some tank water and added 3 drops of Salifert's Flatworm Exit. It does kill the nudis within minutes~ However, I had to manually pick them out with a pair of tweezers as they do not "jump" out unlike using freshwater, Lugol's solution dip.

You can give the Flatworm Exit method a try... I plan to add that to the main tank after another round of dipping with Lugol's solution to kill off whatever's left.

Still my favorite coral though, so not giving up on them anytime soon. :eyebrow:

Hey guys, before you get carried away, do remember that the primary purpose of Flatworm Exit is to kill flatworms. They release toxins when they die, not sure about nudis, but it's best to have carbon running and to siphon out as many dead critters as possible. Even the manual (or article I read somewhere, can't remember) recommends not to apply to main tank except when it is absolutely necessarily, best to do it out of tank, in a pail.

Also, peacemaker bro, 3 drops a bit overkill lah haha, I usually add just 1 drop per 3 litres of water in a pail, or 2 drops per 5 litres, can add one drop of lugol for extra kick haha. The stuff is really lethal, keep spinning your wrists in a washing machine motion while holding the rock upside down, you will see them all drop off within seconds. $20+ can probably last a nano tank a lifetime haha.

For best results, do it in a white pail. Why? For contrast so that you can see clearly exactly how many of those little b**tards drop dead hahahaha.

My 1.5ft nano cube

My 24G nano tank (Decommed)

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate.

And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Haha... thanks for bringing me back to earth! :P

I didn't mention I lost the instructions, so my current dosing is purely on estimate. As stated by Bro LYK, its quite difficult to deal with nudis when they can dwell in live rocks and comes out when the lights are off (I can see mine roaming openly even with lights on though...), so it is very tedious to pick every rock out to dip them. Is your dosing amount similar to the instructions? Mind posting the recommended dosage?

May be after u dip them with flat worm exit for a while, which i took the short cut by dosing direct to my main tank, KILL THEM ALL. KILL..kill.killl.... Then u shake them in the FW insteed of dip your zoa in the FW water which stress them like u can see some tranparent bubble like thing on the zoa after dipping for long period of time. Sometimes the zoas color even faded and take some time to come back, and worst if u didnt kill the egg in the rock, then dip again?? Wa lau ..... buai si du pua si liao lo... haha.
