fish keeps jumping out/dying

Recommended Posts

help.

i've been trying to keep fishes. but they keep jumping out or dying between 1 day to 2 weeks period.

just bought 2 wrasse last week . they swim ok and i saw 1 eating , look perfectly fine. but 1st one died aftter the first day. the other on the second/third day.

one wrasse also just jumped out of the tank yest afternoon. the only other things in the tank yesterday were two cleaner shrimps and two fire gobies.

i also got a history of fishes eg goby jumping out of the tank.

have a canister. tested nitrite and pH and are ok. salinity is 1.023-1.024.

are they any underlying reasons why this is the case? need advice!

wrasse and goby are naturally good jumper. They do it when they sense dangers.

or you can cover your tank with "eggcrate" - this will allow light and air but can prevent fishes from jumping out - unless they "hole-in-one" then no choice.
