Retrofit lighting for jbj 12 gal nanocube.

Getting kinda pissed off at the temperature of the canopy when its on. SO i would like to see if anyone has some retrofit lighting avail / lighting upgrades.

Currently looking at

1. HQI viper MH lighting by JBJ

2. ILLUMMAXâ„¢ PRO 2 FT ( i'd get the 1 ft in a heartbeat , but i dont think there is a 1ft for this)

3. Others if you have to sell :)

Open to suggestions guys :)

Eh bro, if you are pissed off at the temperature of the 48 watt stock lighting, I think your water will boil with the HQI viper MH lights leh :ph34r:

hmm but hqi lighting is "open air" so got alot of space for the heat to dissipate. the 12 gal canopy kinda traps the heat :/ nope no chiller , just aircon at night.

Not true leh, you ever felt the heat emitted from MH lights? Not advisable to use without chiller, serious.

As for the canopy, I was able to keep the temp at around 29 degrees by leaving the front lid open slightly. With a fan, I was able to get 26 degrees on a cool day, and 27.5 degrees on a hot day.

Eheim return 1 * pump

1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil
2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40,
1X6085 Tunze wm,

1 CURVE 7 Skimmer

  1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 

1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3

Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium

1 Full spectrum E27 led light

1 CR control by bubble count

Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016

Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft

expensive luh bro , and im not really sure how to make also haha!:)

150W MH easily produces 100 degree when measure using commerical digital thermometer pointing at the MH bulb after on for a few hrs hor :evil: ! As such MH will heat up your water to over 32++ degree and cook your LS if you dun use chiller so pls dun underestimate the heat that MH produce :whistle !

As mentioned by bro Sherman....LED lighting is the way to go :eyebrow: !

Save the running cost and tube and ballast change cost.

Less running cost plus save our earth :P
