Cube Tank Lighting

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of getting a cubic tank measuring (L)2 feet by (B)2 feet by (H)1.5 feet.

I am wondering how my lighting should be. I currently have 4T5s (2 feet, 4x24). Would 4 more T5s be sufficient? That would bring it to 8 T5s (8x24); around 4.2W of T5s a gallon (spare me the PAR values). Other options would be having 6T5 (less) or getting a metal halide (more).

I have: mushrooms, open brain, a clam, a flavia, some protopatholya and am thinking of getting monti cap.

Also, what combination of lighting should i use? I am using white and blue (40% white, 60% actinic) in the ratio of 1:1 now; was thinking of either switching to white and true actinic in a ratio of 1:1 or blue and true actinic in a ratio of 1:1 as well? I want more blue....

i think using 6tubes of T5 is sufficient for your setup. Having 8 tubes will be a bonus as that will be able to cover your cube tank. If you are going for 8tubes, you can have more option in term of tubes choice.

my recomendation will be as follows (for ati tubes),

Aquablue special x 4

blue plus x 2

Actinic x 2

For 6 tubes combi

Aquablue special x 3

Blue plus x 2

Actinic x 1

my 2 cents
