My fishes are healthy except lately a bit of white spots cause i introduced a blue tang last week!

It should disappear in 1 or 2 weeks hopefully.

i used to feed 2 cubes of frozen food.. one in the morning & one at night. & some pellets for tangs & angel

Do 5% water changes weekly.

but because of that my nitrates was about 40-60ppm.. so cant keep any corals except mushrooms.

Last 2 weeks i have cut down feeding by half... half cube morning & balance half at night.

& increased water change to 10% weekly.

will wait few weeks before testing the nitrates again.

It is god to see low-tech tanks like yours doing so well. It seems that I am not the only one would prefer simple low-tech "low-maintance low-cost" approach to keeping marine fishes. My simple 2ft tank with the sump. The setup similar to yours except that my marine tank is at the top and then a DIY overflow to the bottom tank which is a sump then have a pump to pump water up back to the top. Well, I am lazy so that don't do regular water changes at all, my tank is mature alright at least 3 years old. I did a 50% water change just beginning of year - when suddenly all my fishes just died lkike that. Other than that I just top up water.

You remind me that I should at least keep up the routine of doing at least some water change - 10% per month. Well Done on the fishes and good luck with the ich that the blue tang has introduced. Cheers.

hey bro,

do u ahve any fiter pumps other than ur skimmer? anyway where do u invest ur stuff at? and do u have any idea where to get affordable custom makers for tanks and also equipments? thanks.

Hi Shanshine,

My Filter is just the overflow compartments.... It contains filter wool for pre-filter, 2 kgs of Biohome Plus , some chaetos & Atman 105 to pump water back to the tank.

No idea about custom tank makers cause my tank is just a simple fresh water tank, which my friend gave it to me.

Nice vid! looking good, but it seems like its getting very crowded in there, you might want to slow down on adding more livestock to that tank.

Also if you intend to try keeping more corals you might seriously want to consider getting a 2nd hand chiller.

Hi Fuzzy,

You are right, a bit too crowded there, will be careful not to add anything more!!

Can't afford the electricity bill for chiller! Once your reefing goes beyond the budget, it starts becoming a very expensive hobby!

That's why i try to keep it as simple as possible!

Anyway satisfied with cooling fan, just have to keep up with the water topup!
