Nice nice... I see that you changed your sand... Any advice how to remove the previous sand without disturbing the LS and LR? And btw y change the black sand?? looks good izzit no good?? Cos i'm planning to change to that sand too... :thanks:

1ft cube with IOS [the low tech tank]

1. JBJ C-breeze to keep temp hovering around 27-28'C

2. LED clip on - 120 bulbs

-skimmer-less-

My 3 humble equipments that keeps my tank running... [DRIED OUT]

1. The RSM itself of course 2.My NEW Deltec MCE-300 Skimmer 3. My trusty Arctica Chiller

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

Others? too lazy to measure...LOL

I never remove. Top up with live white/black mix from RD. Reason for change is that black sand no stock. I also prefer full black. Even top up you have to be very careful and top up bit by bit. I top up to fast and resulted in some lost of LS.

Guess my advice is top up 1 or 2 tao hui tub a day. I did 1 whole bag of live sand 20lb a day and the result, not good at all. But about sandbed alot of brown stuff, best is stir your sand bed periodically or get some sand shifting star.

I warn u first, I noob ah...you might want to consult other more experience member.

That particular sand a bit special. Nice as got sparking effect. Not nice as has magnetic properties. Will stick to magnet glass cleaner.

I know as i also have 2 pack of that inside my tank. My substrate is made up of 2x20lb bag of natures ocean life Aragonite black sand, 2x5kg of irwana volcanic sand and 2x20lb of Caribsea Aragalive Indopacific Black on top, added in that particular order also. So end result, top looks white.
