excessive foam produce by skimmer

I notice after I add in anti-chlorine to dechlorinate and chlromaine my water, the foam produced by the skimmer is. wow!

juz wondering.. urs is established tank or topping up ur tank? we can add in anti-chlorine into a established tank? it's a question for u all..im not sure abt this..

mine is a tank with no livestock or rocks inside. rocks is coming today. hopefully. and I realised to my horror my tank isn't de-chlorinated. yes the water is one week old. but its still not de-chloraminated! and chloramine doesn't just dissapate away like chlorine does.

You must be adding a particular brand of anti-chlorine right? What's the name again... Nutrafin brand right?

A lot of people have experienced excessive foam production after using it... I wonder why...

Probably becoz of the herbal extract content in it. I guessed.

yes i use nutrafin as well. Its probably due to the conversion of heavy metals etc into another substance. Ntg to wori at lah. I usually use it when part chg water or when topping up with tap water. Been using it for quite a long time n no prob .

Not that I know of... probably leave your skimmer off for a few hours after adding water with the anti-chlorine...

hmm I've turned down my EV-180's air valve to a minimum airflow. its still foaming quite urh...badly? but yeah. no overflowing, unlike just now.

Some of these dechlorinators contain some polymer stuff inside that is suppose to be good for fish mucous and wound healing but they are only good for freshwater. The skimmer is designed to take stuff like that out in saltwater. Switch to another brand like Seachhem or something that doesn't have such goop in it.

Not really. It's just makes the skimmer draw out lots of water. Remember to mix up some seawater and replace it.
