aquarium artist for reef depot

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

just wanna know if Reef Depot usually engages Aquarium Artist to build their tanks and setup? Apparently Depot is the supplier and Artist does the setup? The bro from artist told me that he will be using deltec equipment which i have never used myself before. Are they really good?

Regards,

Awct

Hi Bro, as mentioned, LFS usually partner with someone to do setup for customer. For Deltec, i think it is not stranger to reefers here. The only issue is whether your pocket is deep enough. Hard to do apple to apple comparison on their product with others......one thing for sure their product design and quality are there......

Yeah, I have to agree that LFC partnering others for setup sounds logical... Ii have actually now gotten a few quotations; one from Aqua Marin, ##### and Marinelife. Meeting the personnel from Aquarium Artist to discuss tomorrow. My budget is abt < 10k.

Also, can you guys advise me on the need for a chiller? I mean I know that it keeps the temperature suitable esp for corals but I have also seen some setups from reputable LFC without chiller but with corals as well?

Thanks for inputs bros.

See for urself instead of believing everything pple/ LFS says. End of the day, it's about how comfortable you are with the shop setting up your tank. Look at the display tank of the various shops you've been to.

Obviously the one with a healthy display tank will show that they know what they're talking about when advising you about your set up.

My tank is set up by AquaMarin, it's been running for close to 4 yrs oredi, and I have no complains at all.

sometimes the more u read up the more u will kenna conn, dont forgot forums take sides.

totally agree with bro reddevils. usually the best is to go in and say you have a low budget, ask for discounts be a nasty customer. den if the LFS still interested in you den talk from there. if you one time say you got $$$ LFS sure open mouth big big. money talks now but its equally important which place you gave yr $$$ to.

Hi bro awct,

its good that you are asking for advice. But what you get are opinions from reefers with varying experiences. Maybe i can suggest that you go for a reputable tank maker to do your tank and cabinet. There are lots of them in this market who have good workmanship with affordable prices.

As for equipments, you can have in mind what you want but it is not a rush to decide. i dun think it is necessary that you get your entire set-up from one single shop too. But of course if you are looking to get those "customer loyalty" kind of treatment from one particular LFS, then you can let them do everything without busting your budget (10k).

Alternatively, you can find yourself a good reefer friend who is experienced enough to advice you on what is best for your tank based on your preference, budget, and taste. Unlike any shop which naturally, has a business to run and profits in mind, such a reefer will be able to offer you valuable and sincere inputs. Once again, you may choose to approach a reefer whose personal display tank tells you that he knows what he is talking about. This might be a win win situation for you. Gain advice and gain a friend too. Who knows, you might be able to set up something even more "kick-######" at a price less than what you get from a LFS.. with some smart shopping. =)

Just my 2 cents.

get to know bro nuclear but do wear lead suit due to radiation. ....lol.

As mentioned by bro Red devil, sometimes, the more you listen, the more confusing you will be. .....in the forum, there are always supporters for LFSs...hence at times it will be bias.....and at times....ppl may tends to get carried away ....

Goes with your heart and get some bros here to assist in your quote comparison....but dont post the quote...not very nice.....

I am using the deltec skimmer, and it is a much better product compared to the HNS which i have used.

It is very impt to choose someone who you really feel comfy with. Higher price paid for tank setup does not equal to better quality and service, which i have experience.

Chiller wise, i am an advocate of aircon compressor type of chiller if your space and budget allows. Use to have a resun chiller, the house is a like green house, wife always complain.

any issues PM me. local tank maker quoted me ridiculous price and found my own tank maker online and set everything up. yes, so far touch wood my deltec skimmer never fail me for coming 2 years.

i've no chiller but knw compressor type aircon with titinium coil will truly give you longer milage esp for bigger tank set up. in fact could be cheaper than getting a chiller.

Side track abit... bro.. i think your tank pix is shown in this month's Home and Decor!

your's is really quite a different setup, thus local tank makers are more used to the conventional setups.

Very nice off-white carpentry work and especially the Kartell Ghosts....

if done at a LFS, and if they know you have the money, likely they will push all the high end equipment in their shop into your tank. When you are experienced enough, you will know that a successful tank need not have all the super high end equipment and technology.

Read and ask more never go wrong, of course, there are reefers who will always take side of certain products and LFS, so could be bias as one bro here has mentioned. If you are not particular, l always advocate the option of considering buying from reefers who decomm their tanks. Tank is definitely much cheaper and not necessary bad. All my 3 tanks were bought from fellow reefers...and they were good in my opinion. Just my 5ct comments.
