Need chiller for FOWLR tank?

from what i heard from other reefers, its best not to keep near windows as the heat from the sun can be nasty.

what i can suggest is get a temp reader ($5-$10) can place in tank to monitor temp using battery, observe whats the degree at afternoon when the sun is high high up.

if its' over 32 degree, i suggest you re-locate it, getting a fan might help if you dont let the temp rose too much

2 cents from me and hope it helps.

Dear gurus,

I am keeping a couple of angels, tangs and a small group of anthias with no corals. Do the angels/tangs require the water to be chilled?

:thanks:

IMHO if your tank exceeds 30C at any time of the day for any amount of time, you should seriously consider relocating the tank and/or or installing a chiller.

If fan cooling is sufficient to keep the temp below 30C at all times, you should be ok, but beware of false savings as you will be topping up

tremendous amounts of water over time, and on a daily basis.
