Hi,

To start you cycle, you can throw in a few pellets or 1/5 cube of mysis shrimp. Don't need to use livestock to start the cycle.

Dead Fish will be hardy. lol.

I hope you mean you have already cycled your tank and hope to get some hardy fishes to start off with so as to minimise heavy loss in buying expensive fish. You can start off with some corals and see whether they are doing well....then follow by inverts and then fishes. Just my 2 cents worth advice. All the best.

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

try not to use fish for cycling. very inhumane.

however if ur lookign for hardy beginner fishes after u cycled, u can try cardinals, clowns, royal gramma. maybe even a shrimp or two ;)

i dont recommend damsels and dottybacks as ur beginner fishes because they will get very aggressive and adding new tank mates will be abit of a hassle later on. i think most of us have been tru that :pinch: i still have my blue damsel from my early days. if u do have a soft spot for damsels and dottybacks, can try adding them last. when all ur other fish hav settled in nciely

u can read the articles posted in this forum re. cycling tank.

happy to help =)

my 3 spot damsel died when the scallop i had died and polluted the water.

so sad... it was king in my tank.

Listen to the pros.. damsels will take over your tank.

if u wan to add damsels can. but add it as ur last fish. that way all existing fishes will have their little slice of the tank to call their own. if u add the damsel first, the whole tank will be his.

thats why it is wise to plan the order in which to add ur fishes.

Surprisingly, my yellowtail damsel although is the first fish, he gets bullied by the my other fishes... cos they are all bigger than him

yellowtail damsel is one of the least aggressive damsels. the changing damsels (genus neoglyphidodon) are one of the most aggressive.
