tiny red volcanos

Recommended Posts

Help,

I have an outbreak of tiny red "Volcanos" which put out long lines of spider web type substance - anybody know what they might be and if they are harmful? They are on the live rock and one is on my staghorn coral!

:thanks:

best to get rid of them by breaking them off..

their skeleton is very brittle.. they feed by absorbing into the strand dangling in the water stream..

Hi 'ambystoma82' ,

I have tried crushing them with a metal rod, but they are quite hard and I don't want to topple my live rock. Do you know what species they are and if they are harmful? The "fishing lines" are unsightly when deployed, but dissapear when they are not feeding. Do they get bigger over time?

:pinch:

they dun really grow anything bigger than 5mm lolx

unless u got some mutant species..

mayb u got one hitch hiker in one of ur rocks..

u can break them with ur finger nails..

not poisonous,, no worries...

e whole prob its tht this species like to leave their strands all over though nt many strands

but can b unsightly if landed on your corals.. like some debris..
