:pinch: not professional lah, just simple DIY.

next project is to replace my MH with leds, that will really save tons of electrical bill

someone IM and ask about the cost of this DIY, I will breakdown some of the key components here.

12 cree leds with optics & drivers + shipment= $220

plastic casing= $3.50- $15 depending on size

heatsink= $6 each ( I used 2 nos )

fan and cover= $6

24V 2.2A power for led= $30 (can drive up to 3nos 700mA driver)

12V power for fan= $10 or less

others (wires, screw,etc)= $10

What is the CREE wattage are you buying? Also, what is your MH wattage?

currently using 4 x 250W MH, total 1KW. each MH will on for 6 hours, overlapping 2 hours

will try out the new 10W leds, the problem is still very expensive even if DIY, more than $1K+++

I order from cutter

are you refering to the shop locate at the back next to the rear entrance?

I had check with a few shops in SLT, most of the leds are from china, no specification & some are brandless.

if you happen to know some good sources please let me know

Its my first post here. stubmled on this forum while looking for DIY. Your LED is very nice..

Actually i wish to DIY my own fan for my aquarium. I am thinking of using the computer fans which can be found in sim, like 18cm ones, to lower the temp of my tank slightly.. wonder if u have any tips on how can I do that? I don't know where I can find a PSU thats low power for the fan.. hope you can help

Hi bro,

Just go and buy new or 2nd hand fan from LFS/reefer as the fan is quite cheap only  . IMO, not worth to DIY la....unless you are talking about LED lighting which currently the price is EX... !

you need DC power adaptor. check the voltage & amp require, usually is 12V and the amp require is very low.

A 12V/0.5A adaptor cost ar $10.
