I have two giant lions in my 3.5ft tank. Been feeding them well and resulted in them shitting too much. Was shocked to see the end product coming from them. I have some (not much) corals in the tank and can't help but worry about my biolad. The sad thing is, cleaner shrimp is a no no as my lions will think thats supper:)

Any reefers out there has a suggestion for me to help clear the waste product from my lions besides partial water changes? Can hermit or seacucumber or any inverts help with the by products from the lions?

Your so call giant lionfish is how big? It can be a feet long like those in underworld leh.. so far saw from ML the biggest is 8-9". Maybe you are refering to that size.

Last time I reserved 1 big and 2 small from ML. Later decided not to take the big one as I know it eat and shit a lot. NO3 will be a problem then.

So you have 2 here, bao zhong!

Tank 4x2x2.5

For a predator tank like yours, especially if heavily stocked, you can consider using bio ball in a wet/dry configuration, lots of macroalgae in the sump to help in no3 export, a large powerful skimmer and even an ozonizer to break down the waste materials. How, too lazy to hand feed your anglers?

That 'foam'... is it brown and looks oily and smells funny? I think it's cynobac or some sort of algae... Best is get a surface skimmer or worse come to worse use newspaper to soak it out. It'll block out some light into your tank and I think dissolved air as well...

Erm.. And as for lions I think the best is to do water changes to counter the nitrate but why don't you measure the amount of nitrate first cause honestly I think that 2 lions for a 3.5 ft tank should be no problem. Or just cut down on your feeding? I only feed my lion once in awhile... No problem...

Hihi I do hv such surface "dirt" from time to time. especially when I do a big water chg and some of the rocks higher up got exposed to air. Sometimes its when the san gets stirred up too much . Ntg much to wori abt except that it doesnt look gd. In my case usually just use a small rubber hose (those that u use for airstones) and suck up the top layer.

Main Tank : 48 inch by 36 inch by 28 inch (2 sides starphire glass)
Sump Tank :
Return Pump :
Chiller : Starmax Compressor 1 HP Drop coil
Chiller Return Pump
Protein Skimmer :
Wave Maker :
Fluidised Reactor :

I dont think ur bioload is an issue. U only have 2 lions in ur 3 ft tank. But I suggest u add a skimmer (venturi type at least) to your setup. It will really help in controlling ur water condition.
