It is not recommended to run out-of-sump due to the head-loss from the AquaBee 1000 pump which is "fixed" at the bottom of the unit.

Why need to upgrade the pump when it is already an overate pump for this application as it needs to have a oxygen free environment for the anerobic bacteria in the nitrate filter and a powerful pump defeats the purpose of a nitrate filter or likewise for any fluidized reactor eg phosphate or GAC filter.
