L-shaped tank

Recommended Posts

Am toying with the idea of building a L-shaped tank to replace my current one...

4'+3' x 1.5' x 2' (it'll be a dual-EOF on each end).

Currently in the 'building castle in the air stage'....

Does anyone has any experience or advice that i should take into consideration while planning for it?

At the same time any online-reference would be greatly appreciated.

TIA...

L shape tank in Singapore reminds me of E-aquanature. Not sure whether who bought over that acrylic tank, the tank was build by Ian of I Aquatic, you may want to contact them.

Yes, the most famous L shape that in modern reef keeping is David Saxby's tank, see here for more details.

Good luck. :eyebrow:

Americans are crazy reef bastaards..lolx...spending $$$ x $$$ on their hobby.

He is British. And the boss of Deltec Aquarium Solutions.

Another "crazy" guy is Pieter van Suilekorm (Dutch) aka 6 meter Peter (He is name 6 meter Peter because of the length of his tank... nothing else, what were you thinking of.)

Note: Its 6 meter, not 6 feet.

hi i'm having a simple L shape FOWLR tank about 8 feet length and 2 feet length on the "L" side and so far so good. when i was setting up most local shops told me it can't be done or gave me me ridiculous pricing. ending up finding someone across the border to do it for me and pretty happy with the set up so far. just that didnt make carpentry opening on the "L" side so can have access all round.

Bro,

Gem is affordable to him, you should see his Tri-color tang, that one I believe is a chance only provided by mother of nature.

Yup, they encounter a glitch when they announce whale shark as one of they livestocks and antagonize animal lovers, reefers etc.

I think is more than that....look at the amount of fishes and corals inside there....probably a customised skimmer that is as big as an oil tank....

At least $500k everything in...

I checked out Reef Central this month TOTM...this fellow uses his basement for his sump...this is crazy

hmm... seems like L-shaped tank does have it's challenges huh.

Bro Mopiko... would you mind sharing your setup here? Or is it at another forum??

I would like to find out the challenges to evaluate if i should even start to plan.

Hahaha... eh, David Saxby??!?!??! ... sorry friends... this one not even in my dreams...

Actually i'm not too sure why local tank makers find L-shape tank difficult to make? Why ah? It's just the same mah...

Just a few more panels only.

Another Alternative to L-shape tank... another possibility is having a thematic tank on one side, and a mix reef on another.

hi bro

no la my tank is just a simple custom full height cabinet set up with sump. 8 feet length minus over flow left bout 7 feet. the height is only bout 1.5 feet high only. just FOWLR currently under hypo maybe will share once things start up again.

its not difficult to set up just need ensure that there are enough, proper euro bracing and return piping.

bro goudian seen my tank before so maybe he be more experience in giving his pointers on my set up and you can learn from my mistakes and improve on it. BTW, my L shape tank cost be just under 3.5k to set up (just tank + sump) local want charge me 3 times tat amount <_<
