My PurpleTip Anemone Disappeared for a week!

Hi. My purple tip anemone has been missing for a week. My rocks are large pieces and i don't have that many holes/crevices for it to hide. Moreover, this is the type that is partially buried in the sand and doesn't move much. Checked in and out, under and on-top but just could not find it.

Anyone has any experience like this?

Can it just disappear just like this? Or maybe it disintegrated?

Thanks Reddevils,

It opened to abt palm size. Can it just melt away like this? Do u know what would be reasons for melting away?

Should i be very concerned about the pollution to the water and impact on the other LS?

Thanks,

You check yr skimmer....see the collection...coz if melt...yr skimmer collection will be full of sh#@t inside...

Skimmer was full last Sunday, which was the first day that the anemone disappeared. Unfortunately, on that same day, fed the corals with prawn meat so cannot isolate reason why skimmer was full.

Wud ph or calcium (either high or low) be a reason for it melting away (assuming it did)?

Thanks,

Hi bro,

Ammonia spike will be a tell-tale sign...

Now my anemone starting to move around and 1 time even got stuck on my Hydor K3 <_< Lucky saved it in time, but next time maybe not so lucky.

Lucky you! I had to do an emergency 50% (almost) water change today, just in case. While my corals are generally ok, i didn't want to take the chance. For some strange reasons, i have about 7 brains/open brains... all retracted severely (can even see bones) and half of them are dying already. Hope i managed to save some of them... the next few days will tell. Sigh...
