hi there i just buy a de nitritor,

inside got those white bio balls . . .

and inside running a power head

then in put water from top of de nitritor.

the person told me that bacteria will build up in the white balls, and those white ball will dissolve over time de then all i need to do is to go buy the white bio ball from shops.

i will like to know is it ok for me not operating 24 hours. that person told me bacteria will die if no water in etc . . . .

is it from aqua medic? me using sulphur but think the concept should be almost the same. With circulation, it will be more effective. I think you can dont operate the pump 24 hrs a day but you need to ensure there is constant flow of water into the Denitrator and water output. Please control your output flow. Over dosage will affect your water parameter. Not sure whether you need to pump food source to the bacterias....such as vodka, etc. Maybe you can read up deltec and aqua medic denitrator setup to understand more. sorry for being pte ltd for this topic. All the best.

i'm using aqua medic. from what i learnt, what matters most is the constant feeding of water supple supply in and out. you need to be very patient as it might take as long as 3 months for it to work functionally.

for aqua medic, they use deniball. For deltec, they use sulphur. You can choose to also just use rock in your sump to act as denitrator but they must be established with the essential bacteria. There are also dose for live bacteria which help to act at denitrator, etc. For bio ball, some users have good result. It is about the setup which i think some got the wrong setup and experienced disaster. Think no best option but which option you get good result with proper setup. Do share with us if you find a good method. : )

I find sulpur easier and faster to get result.

Deniball need a lot of time and patience to get result.

Both are great

But I choose sulphur as I am very busy
