Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

Why dun go for 2ft? More room to place yr corals and easier to maintain...you can use back the same cannister.

Lighting can go for hopar brand...around $40 - $45 for 2 tubes of high o/p T5. Skimmer is optional for 2ft is you change yr water weekly or less than that.

Before you start again with 1ft. Assess your own suitability for this type of tank. The maintenance routine is weekly partial water and filter media changes. Discipline on bioload equilibrium. In general, the smaller the tank, the more frequent maintenance is. If you strongly believe oyu can keep this up, then continue. Else, consider selling your small tank to someone else and concentrate on a larger tank.

Equipment is dependent on what type of tank you want: FOWLR, Mixed reef, LPS, SPS, Species, etc... Any type of tank, cycling is the first important. I run my 9G with canister, and chiller only. no skimmer. 3 tiny power heads to provide flow.

Bro, you have been very patient and have given valuable advice to newbies, but is it necessary to quote this incident every time? <_<

We can give all sorts of advice through our knowledge or even our own experiences, but ultimately, it still depends on the individual if he / she wants to listen or not. Relax... and let it go. Reefing and surfing this webby are supposed to be enjoyable. ^_^

You can certainly re-use your Boyu canister if you believe it helps. Anyway, you'll still need one no matter what brand unless you settle for a different filtration method. The important component in a canister are the filter media. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. You can have any combo of media in your canister depending on your needs.

Start your tank the right way and you'll enjoy the benefits of it in the long run.

You've not really told us what type of tank you're after. It'll be easier for us to provide comments if you've done so.

I'm a believer of live rock + live sand natural filtration. My tank relies on both + the Eheim canister. In my canister, I have ceramic rings and substrate media. I also use activated carbon to take away the organics and keep the water clear. All of the above requires periodic cleaning and changing to function optimally.
