Do U Need Surface Skimmer For Marine Tank ?

Hi to all SRC members. Kindly advise whether a surface skimmer is required? Currently I'm using canister external filter connect to

the tank by a surface skimmer. Recently after rescapeing, the whole chuck of inlet tubeing(Green Color) in my tank looks urgly, can

I take out the surface skimmer so that left only the narrow inlet extend to the bottom of the tank?

Any others good suggestion?

Not advisable as the purpose of surface skimmer is to remove the excess protein and detritus on the surface of yr water. The concept is the same as overflow system. You can try to "conceal"it by perhaps adding some corals around that area...or you can place a liverock that soft of block the green tube.
