Copper treatment

Recommended Posts

my tank is visibly ich free after i dose cuperamine at a concentration of 0.25mg/l.

it has been like that for most a week.

Seachem/reefkeeping recommend that it should be left for 14 days. Hypo treatment recommend 4-6 weeks to ensure complete eradication.

should i leave my copper level for 2 weeks or at least a month?

i do not want the ich to come back again.

is there a long term negative effect on my fishes for prolong period of time exposure to copper.

seriously my fish look a lot more healthier, more greedy and better colouration after copper and vit C treatment so far.

all are fat and ich free. not a single speck observed for at least 1 week already.

some fishes are very sensitive to copper like dwarf angels. these group of fish are most prone to suffer the ill effects of copper in the long run...fishes like these should be on hypo. read it on wetwebmedia, article posted by bob fenner. over exposure can cause harm.

Base on my personal experience, once fishes show no signs of ich on the body, you can wait for about 1-2 days and start putting in polyfilter and carbon, and turn on skimmer, to remove the copper. I have done that about three times and so far ich didn't com back till i added new fishes

Long term effect would probably only be infertility. Most copper treatments I know of should not be performed together with hyposalinity.

i didnt perform it together with hypo... just strictly copper, garlic and vit C.

infertility seem a bit cruel to them, but in any case, they cant really reproduce in my tank too. thanks fuel.

hi bro,

i know it has some effect on the dwarf but in fact the drawf look seeingly more active and more greedy in their diet now. definatelt it has some effect... but what effect? if it is infertility like bro Fuel say, i still can manage and accept... but for example causing liver failure and will lead to death, that one i cant accept

i read on some article online. not sure again if its true or not. might want to take it with a pinch of salt (: however, i believe only if exposed to long long periods of copper on high concentration. if its for one time treatment like ur doing, i think its ok. wait i see if i can try to find that article.

k bro hammy. sorry i scared u haha. the article says only in high and prolonged exposure to copper above therapeutic levels will harm the fish. haha. especially those scaleless fish. so as long as ur maintaining the correct ppm of copper during the reccommended treatment period, all should be fine! haha (:

psps read wrong lolx
