for 2 footer t5 is 24watts per tube so compare T4 55watts PL to 55watts ....is should be brighter .....than T5 ...T5 are x, and t5 are better because it can punch lighting deeper into the tank but..PL cant ....so how about getting 3 x set of T4 55watts PL = total of 165watts ...should this be enough for clam if i place it high up in my tank on the LR near the light ......?

It all boils down to the surface area of your tank and the height of your tank.

Let's just say it use up for one to judge. Other people's comment should be taken with a pinch of salt since they have not seen your tank in person.

For instance if the clam is onli 10cm or less from your light source (and your light has reflectors to concentrate the light into your tank only), then placing it directly under a 55W 6,500K - 10,000K PL tube is more than sufficient. ;)

Always something more important than fish.
