hey my 1 ft tank sanity is up and never down thus have to add water every day

is it suitable to keep fishes inside I have a fan and light ut dunno why my sanity keeps going higher

Salinity go up cos of evaporation, you must top up the difference with enough fresh water (distilled) to maintain the salinity.

what kind of butterflyfish. if its the long nose varient from the genus chelmon or forcipiger, then u can add ur zoos. if its from the main fmaily chaetodon, dun add zoos. they are not reef safe

For a 1ft tank, I would recommend a simple top up device. That's coz the SALINITY fluctuates too much from evaporation. Stability of SG is as important as the absolute value itself.

your salinity goes up due to evaporation... just make sure that you do regular top up and maintain the correct sg..

Use a 1.5l plastic bottle (fill with distilled water please...) - drill a small hole at the top (at the cap) and side (near the bottom) of the bottle.

Top hole is for removal of air pressure build up when water level goes down.

Bottom hole is for the water to be 'dripped' drop by drop in your main tank. (of coz you need to use a control valve to control how much water to go in).

Slowly let it drip (you use use a air tubing to channel the water into your tank and put the water bottle somewhere higher)

How fast the drip, depends on your daily evaporation rate. (by calculating the water volume - lxbxh of the drop in water level)
