no can see only a little bit of ployps coming out only but not long ...... i think is because of my light (now only using 55watts pl 1/2 10000k 1/2 blue i think is not strong enough for it going too get 1 more PL 55watts(10000k day light only) set for it today or tommorrow ...

but i would like to ask you ..... how long did it take for your cu to open fully when you first bought it and put in your tank ...cause some coral take a longer time to open because of new water and lighting .....

cause when i bought it from the shop they was using only antic blue lighting for it only ...... and its plopys did not even open at all......

but it better in my tank .....

so i have a small wave maker (pump) (600L per hour ) so do i use the pump and pump at it ...so it will be better ?

as long as there is good water circulation/current, not necessarily putting it right in from of pump

a few hours after i let it settle in my tank... its actually quite easy to acclimatize

cant cause it very big like a size of a cd and my tank is full and lot of LR and coral....

but some of my fren tell me it take sometime for it to recover cause it has been in the shop with very little lighting ....so i think i have to gave it some time like 1 more day ....

I think your cup is still adjusting to the transportation and the change in conditions.

If you tank is stable and you place it high up on the LR, it should be fine. My old cup lasted pretty ok under 2X36W PL, so I dont see much problems with yours.

Having said that, I think they do particularly well under MH and med currents. Mine is placed on the sandbed under 150 MH and tunze lashed. The other LPS cant handle it but the cup has blossomed tremendously. (of course, it could be straining for the light I'm no expert)

My old one was under PLs and nitrates off the charts, and it did pretty well. One of my first corals... and if it survived in those dark ages, then it must be pretty hardy. Anyway, did after it fell of the LR and into the arms of a torch. Similar fate to the fox on the right of the pix.

not a good reefkeeper lah, although I have to say I have murdered less live stock then ...... the "arachnid"

riot u were said that you keep cup coral with 2 x pl 36watts ....it is all 10000k or 1/2 10000k daylight and 1/2 blue antic , that mean 36watts on daylight and 36watts on blue antic?

just bought it from a fellow reefer a few months ago... sorry but not selling as it is one of my favourites.. darn my galaxy coral, stung a tip of my cup... hope it recovers soon...

Hi Dr,

my old cup was for about $5-8 bucks 2 years back. The current one is $30? from Waterc!rCl3.

If I were you, I would switch the 55w PLs to 10KK bulbs, and then supplement as needed with additional actinic Fls or Pls. You will chalk up 110W in a two footer, a pretty decent wattage. You should be able to keep softies and LPs with no issue. Then the whole debate about the lighting requirements for your cup is moot.

However, you might want to watch the heat issue though. Pls runs cooler than t5s or MH, but it isnt cold.

Yeah I dont really fancy the colour... looks very dull yellow. The base skin when I bought it was pink, and at least you see the colour contrast of the pink versus the yellow polyps. Well, as least my clown likes it.
