hey bros out there have this small tank but the problem come when the water looks relatively clean but nitrite

is damn high when I check goodness what should I do man

thanks

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

usually cannot tell the amount of nitrite present just by looking at the cleanliness of the water. some tank sparkling clean but wow! the amount of dissolve organics inside off the chart. as onizuka said, get a skimmer, do aggressive skimming and do water change. im assuming ur tank is going tru the ANN cycle? or got livestock inside.

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

Small tank is a challenge to stabilise the water parameters.

As for the nitrates, it is possible to come from the water that you use. If you are using tap water, it's about 50ppm already.

Also, the food you use to feed the fish, corals etc. Too much can cause a spike.

Probably you need to do water change using DI water about 30-40% every week to improve a bit. Then to feed the tank inhibitants less. May be every 2 days.

Get those nutrient exports such as algae, cheato etc.

5.0 mg is not very high. May be 50mg.

Bro, I misread it at first too, but he's talking abt NO2, nitrite, not NO3, nitrate.

To TS: I suppose you didn't cycle the tank for at least 4 weeks right? The most common reason why NO2 will jump so high is either a mass die off or new tank syndrome, where your bio filter media is still inmature. I'm guessing both, since you were having so much problem with your livestocks. Do a water change and cycle your tank properly once more. :)
