SPS expert ....

bought this SPS on Sunday night at 110

Until today it refuse to open

I place it about 7 inches away from my MH 150w

Wif strong current blowing

Water paramter is good

Why doesn't it open up?

Also, can tell me what specimen is this?

No nid to worry about the polyps for now la...as long as it is not bleaching and it has not RTN then all should be fine.

Some sps appear more 'furry' than others..yours might be the less 'furry' type?

Btw..how much u got it for? Nice specimen.

Dino, if your water conditions are optimal, the polyps should extend within a few hours or a day at most.

What does your complete setup consist of? And what are your Ca and alkilinity readings? Care to share with us your water parameters? Pictures of your tank/sump/skimmer/etc would be useful too.

One more question, how long has your tank been running?

Make sure the "current" is not directed straight at the colony or you may find tissue sloughing off!

try redirecting the PH away.... dun blow direct....n see how.

also lighting.. need to acclimitize one... if all else fail then think of selling. u r selling too early. Dun give up too soon. SPS are very nice corals

hey bro, i got the same species, didnt open wen i lay it on the higher part of my tank on top of a liverock.. i lay it on the bottom part of the tank, now green tips are blooming abit... might work 4 u.....

Hey Dino, just monitor it closely, it may just be taking a little longer adjusting to your tank conditions.

Btw, when was your last water change and how many gallons do you change each time?

Not all SPS corals have polyps that open. Some never open during daylight hours, only at night.Some polyps are large and give a bushy look, some are so small you can hardly see them. Provided the coral has sufficient lighting, strong(not direct) flow and good water conditions(yours looked ok) it should do ok. Since it is a wild colony it can take many months to acclimatise.
