how to remove those thick red algae from my wavemaker?any chemical to remove it?

You can either remove by hand with the wavemaker out of water to ensure that you do not release any spores into the tank or you can get some grazers to control them.

HTH ;)

I read somewhere that you can soak the whole thing in vinegar to dissolve the coralline algae.

Yep! Tried and tested :)

Mix some white vinegar with some water and soak ya coraline encrusted equiptment for bout 1/2 a day or so.. the algae then comes off effortlessly..

Yah, if its coralines its easy to remove. Just soak in white vinegar solution will do the trick. ;)
