is it a tridacna clam? maxima, crocea or squamosa etc etc? if so, i suggest u try not to move it....when it is firmly attatched, the byssal roots will hold very tightly on the rock. if u try to remove it, you could damage it. i am not a clam expert, maybe others could help. usually, ppl move the rock it is on. dont move the clam...

You're right if the foot tears the clam might not be as healthy as before... And the byssal organ might get seriously injured...

1ft cube with IOS [the low tech tank]

1. JBJ C-breeze to keep temp hovering around 27-28'C

2. LED clip on - 120 bulbs

-skimmer-less-

My 3 humble equipments that keeps my tank running... [DRIED OUT]

1. The RSM itself of course 2.My NEW Deltec MCE-300 Skimmer 3. My trusty Arctica Chiller

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

i suggest if u not sure or very inexperienced with this, get someone to do for u, or dont do at all. if u accidently cut the byssal glands, the clam will get injured and.....well...:(

I experienced my clam foot dropped b4... :paiseh: And the colour has since faded... But with proper care my clam wa back in business...

Yes. Cut them off at the byssal threads. They are hair-like and when you cut make sure the cut is as close to the rock they are attached on as possible and not the other way round. This will minimise cutting of they byssal organ itself. If you don't see the threads, don't try to pull them from the rock unless you know what you are doing.

After removing it, place it at its new location. If it attaches to that location within a few days, the relocation is a success. If it does not, the byssal organ might be hurt and usually this is fatal for the clams.
