Tht79, I am referring to weihsiang's Sps pics. Anyway , you are right, Aussie echinata is the most challenging Sps of all. Maybe we can share a nice one in the next Aussie shipment? honkit
Yt' thats A.horrida. I had lost my echinata two months ago during a chemical warfare in my tank. Echinata is truly an challenge! You have a wonderful collection of montiporas. Regarding a. Echinatas in particular those from Australian waters, they have a preference for 20kk lighting and are docile corals in contrast to more invasive acropora species such as a. Millepora and a. Yomgei. honkit
Thank you honkit. Can you share more on this beauty requirement? Cheers I have an 8-inch tall a. echinata colony (aussie waters) and after a few relocations in my tank, I find it prefers a mid to high level position on my rockscape, turbulent flow but not as demanding of it compared to the likes of its Australian cousins A.spathulatha and strawberry shortcake (A. microclados) and lighting with a bluish spectrum. Typical SPS coral requirements i.e. stable dkh levels, clean water, etc naturally apply. On a side note, australian SPS corals regardless of species are more demanding of clean and stable conditions compared to their Indonesian counterparts.
