Flooding....HELP?

Hi, today, worked very hard....mopping the floor. From today's lightning, the power went dead and my two return pumps became 2 siphoning machines. The sump was over flowing and it only stopped when the water level was below the outlet nozzles.

Does anyone face this problem and has suggestions to prevent this?

Very tired......mopped about 50 litres of saltwater and wife not too impressed.

get a check valve. kelantan lane shops should have them.

if not, next time, make sure your return piping ends slightly above water so that it doesnt become a siphon when the power trips.

Drill two hole in the outlet just above the water line

Yup... drill the holes.

Same thing happened to mi. Got scolded big time by my mom.

Alternatively your outlet is not too deep in your main tank. It should be at a level where such power failure happens the water will continue to drip into your sump until the water flow is break by the air that enters your outlet.

Advice from my wife...change to a one foot tank (like me) only max 27l of water full tank!!!!!

or like me, put in balcony. when the tube came out, half tank drained onto floor but since is balcony, went down the drain pipe and the afternoon sun dried the floor. when i came back, only the stand and tank is wet

Thanks so much for the ideas. Sounds so simple yet never came to my mind. I'll get the drilling bit grinding when I get home! You all so crever! Back still aching from the mopping.

flipper: always do an actual test so you'll know your tank is fine in the event of power failure.
