Salinity 35 ppt (parts per thousand; g/L)

Specific gravity (S.G.) varies depending on temperature. You'll need to read off a conversion table to get salinity from S.G.

Salinity is how saline your water is or how much salt is in the water. Parts per thousand or ppt means grams per litre of water. Therefore 35 ppt means there are 35 grams of salt per litre of water.

Hydrometers only measure Specific gravity or S.G. of the water which is the ratio of the weight of the water to the weight of the same volume of pure water. S.G. must be converted to Salinity because S.G. of water changes according to temperature of the water. That's why there's a thermometer inside the lead ball hydrometers. The thermometer is not there for show.
