Custom make 2 ft SPS new setup

Just kick start my sulphur denitrator and i D.I.Y a chamber for water passing thru before flowing back into my sump..

Had a bad experience with my Denitrator previously that i think i adjust the flow too strong and dose directly without going thru any active carbon which kill a few of my angle fish ..

can anyone share their experience using the Suplhur Denitrator ?

You need to pass it thru another chamber of Calcium Media to balance the ph level.

Intented to set up a energy saving tank to cut cost for long run.. so the considersation of all the equipment purschase has been on the power consumption and the quality as well.. or we can say .. VALUE FOR MONEY.. haha..

My tank specification is as follow;

1) 5 mm glass with external overflow tank

2) 5 mm sump tank

3) Main return pump - AB 3000 ( 45 W )

4) Chiller main return pump - AB 2000 ( 18 W )

5) Chiller - Artica titanium chiller 1/10 HP ( 75 W)

6) Wave maker - tunze 6206 nano wavebox ( 10 W only ! )

7) Skimmer - H & S skimmer with AB needle wheel ( 18 W )

8) CR - RM Calcium reactor with AB 1000 ( 10W )

9) Denitirator - RM suplur Dnitirator with maxi jet pump ( 12 W )

10 ) Lighting - Lumen Auqa LED lighting ( 48 W only ! )

TOTAL ; 236 W !!!

mine's at the lowest setting of the potentiometer (any higher, cannot get the wave effect) and voltage at 14V.

I can get a decent swish-swosh, but wanted something more 'tidal'... haha.

According to the LFS, green and brown SPS as well as monti is the easiest to start with .. i am a newbie in keeping SPS too, so taking it more caution on the number of LS to be put into the water as i feel this will affect the water quality ..

My tank is similar as yours. 2.5x2x2 (LxBxH). But due to bad planning of my cabinet, i can only put the wavebox to blow from the back to the front of the tank (which is the 2' panel, and not the recommended 2.5' panel)...

just to check, do you hear the water go 'pish' 'pish' when it goes down ur external overflow?? Or do you see the water level move up and down near the overflow teeth? If not, it's not at resonance frequency. (tip: try to tune to as low as possible and set the voltage to 12v. My setting zero at the potentiometer and 14V).

Oh, i also have a 6025 running in the same direction as the wavebox. Maybe that's why it works (haven tried without 6025 though).

I can even see some mushies 'waving' in the water... quite an experience. Now must get those long tentacles corals... should be very nice.

p/s: your ric very nice!!! i like, and i think i saw a deep red/orange sun coral at the background too yeah.

I guess yours is same as mine, the wavebox is blowing from the back to the front of the tank.

However, i dont seem to hear the " pish" "pish" sound thought.. thanks for you sharing and maybe i will go back and play with the setting again tonight..

Maybe i will get a 6025 like you instead of a 6055 which cost much more.. can save some $$ though.. haha

Wow.. i just tune my nano wavebox again to the same setting as yours, and it work great right now.. i can see the wave generated on top of my tank circulating around and the coral inside moving Left & Right..

New lighting inside my tank for planting chaeto to keep P04 and N03 in control.. runing on 10 hr daily, i feel this is the perfect light for putting into the sump since it is water proof..

Wow... then maybe i dont need to use another tunze wavemaker on the other corner anymore ? i have the photocell but didnt really use it yet, cos i still havent find a place to stick it.. Indeed i think the tunze wavebox is much better than the vortex.

no lah, if u read the instruction booklet, it says you will need a powerhead to 'complement' the wavebox...

partly becoz if use the 'feeding' mode or photocell, then you'll have NO circulation... cannot leh.

Can't really comment on vortex, never use or try them before, but the wavebox seemed to give a pulse.

btw: i think if u put the top end of the box above water, you should see another effect. (maybe better, im not sure... mine is slightly above water level).

oh, the photocell, dun put too near the light source, it'll shorten it's lifespan...

but somewhere near the bottom of the tank... (trial and error will get you there).
